Recharge Stations
Availability of recharge stations in Perth and surroundings:
- RAC – The first publicly available level 2 recharge station in Australia was installed at the RAC West Perth building on Wellington St. in November 2010 (see photo below). It is a fast-charge station which means it charges the vehicle in half the time of a regular household outlet. For further information please go to the RAC site.
- The West Australian – At the carpark at Newspaper House (50 Hassler Road, Osborne Park), a dual-headed level 2 fast charge station is available with the latest standard IEC connectors: IEC 62196-compatible 32 A (8-pin).
- City of Swan - A dual-headed level 2 fast charge station (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin) is located at the Middle Swan depot on Bishop Road. For further information please call: 08 92679395.
- City of Fremantle – In the Queensgate Carpark 2 parking bays have been allocated for exclusive use by plug-in EV’s. These bays provide free parking and electricity to any plug-in EV for up to 12 hours. There are two 15A sockets and a double headed level 2 fast charger. Note: the fast-charger has the latest IEC standard connectors (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin). For further information please read the Electric Vehicle Charge Point Parking Guidelines.
- MainRoads WA - A dual-headed level 2 fast charge station (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin) is located at the carpark of the Don Aitken Centre on Waterloo Crescent, East Perth.
- WaterCorporation - A dual-headed level 2 fast charge station (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin) is located in the carpark below the Head Office on 629 Newcastle St in Leederville.
- University of Western Australia - A dual-headed level 2 fast charge station (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin) is located at the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, UWA Crawley Campus. Take the Fairway entrance number 1 to carpark #20; station is located in the south-east corner (click here for a map). Contact phone number: 08 6488 3897.
- Department of Transport - A dual-headed level 2 fast charge station (IEC 62196-compatible 32 A, 8-pin) is located at the Public Transport Centre on Summers Street in East Perth (close to the Marlborough St. crossing).
Twelve state of the art fast-recharge bays will be installed around Perth in 2011 for use by trial participants and EV enthusiasts. Some of the recharge stations are provided under a separate ARC Linkage grant funded project conducted by a consortium led by UWA and including the Department of Transport, Murdoch University, Gull and CO2 Smart.
